New Malaysian writer mentioned in UK writing competition

A Malaysian recently got her name mentioned as one of the writers whose work was recommended for having tried out for the New Writing Ventures competition and, though it didn't win, the judges deemed it was of a high standard nevertheless.

Roz Buyong used to practise law here in Malaysia but gave it up in 2001, to take the MA Writing Program at Middlesex University. It must have been worth it as she was awarded a Distinction. Two years later she entered the Asham competition, was shortlisted but didn't win.

She expects to have finished her first novel she's called Cicada Rhythm by this very month!

You can download and read a bit of her other work, one she submitted to the New Writing Ventures competition, at www.newwritingpartnership.org.uk
